Shoe care set essentials
If you are new to shoe shining or just leather shoes in general we can imagine that you do not know exactly which products are considered essential and which are simply a "nice to have". In this guide we will quickly walk you through the products we consider to be essential for leather shoes, suede shoes and sneakers.
Leather / calfskin shoe shine kit
If you want to take good care of your leather shoes we recommend three essential shoe care products:
1: Saphir Médaille d'Or Renovateur(Conditioning + mild cleaning)
2: Saphir Médaille d'Or Pommadier shoe cream (Recolouring + Satin gloss)
3: (Optional) Saphir Médaille d'Or Pate de Luxe shoe wax (Extra waterproofing & high gloss finish)
You also need:
- Set of shoe care brushes
- Cotton cloth
- Method -
These three products form a solid foundation for your (bi) weekly shoe shine routine and can be used for any pair of leather shoes. Start by applying the Renovateur using a cloth. After letting it soak into the leather for aprox. 5 minutes give your shoes a quick brush to remove any excess conditioner. Do the same for the Pommadier cream and Pate de Luxe shoe wax.

Your suede and nubuck shoes
To take good care of your suède shoes we recommend the following products:
1: Saphir Médaille d'Or Omninettoyant (Cleaning)
2: Saphir Médaille d'Or Gommadin (Stain removal)
3: Saphir Médaille d'Or Natural protector spray (Waterproofing)
You also need:
- Suède crêpe brush
- (Optional) Saphir Médaille d'Or Pate de Luxe (For recolouring leather sole edges)
- Method -
Wash your suede shoes with Saphir Médaille d'Or Omninettoyant. After letting them fully dry remove any leftover spots and stains using the Saphir Médaille d'Or Gommadin block. Last, but not least spray them with Saphir Médaille d'Or Natural Protector spray.

Sneakers
To keep your sneakers looking like new we recommend the following products:
1: Tarrago WASC or Saphir Médaille d'Or Foam cleaner (Cleaning)
2: Tarrago sneaker protector spray or Saphir Médaille d'Or Natural Protector spray (Waterproofing)
3: (Optional) Tarrago odor killer
You also need:
- Cleaning brush
- Microfiber cloth
- Method -
Spray a bit of cleaner on your sneakers and use a brush + a bit of water to clean your sneakers. Rinse off any soap and let dry. You can speed up the drying process by wiping them off with the microfiber cloth. Once your sneakers are dry you can treat any remaining stains with the cloth and a bit of the cleaner. Let dry once more, and spray your sneakers with a protective spray and optionally odor killing spray on the insides.
