Shoelaces
Shoelaces don’t last as long as your favourite shoes. It’s always smart to keep a spare pair at home, because you never know when one might snap. Often, it’s the aglet – the small plastic or metal end – that breaks first. Over time, laces also wear out as they’re loosened and tightened again and again. Or maybe they simply don’t look fresh anymore and could use a replacement.
We offer Saphir Médaille d’Or Luxury Laces, made from 100% cotton and available in different lengths and colours. For shoes with 4–5 eyelets, we recommend 75 cm laces; for 5–6 eyelets, 90 cm is ideal.
You can choose between fine and normal width: fine laces are perfect for elegant dress shoes, while normal laces suit boots and casual shoes better.
Replacing your shoelaces
When you place the laces in your shoe, be careful not to break the aglet by being too fast. When the aglet is broken, it will fall off soon, and you will have to replace your shoelaces again, as a lace with a broken aglet can look quite sloppy and the lace quickly tears apart. If you want your shoelaces to be placed in a new formation to also renew your shoes a little bit, there are lots of styles to be found online to try out something new. So, even though shoe laces seem to be quite an unimportant detail, always make sure you have some in stock to replace yours when the time comes, so you don’t have to hurry to order some online. Keep them in your shoe shine kit so you know where to find them, and you are good to go!
Saphir Médaille d'Or shoelaces
The premium Saphir Médaille d'Or shoelaces are made in France using wooden looms that are over a century old. The knowledge and craftsmanship of the factory are clearly reflected in the laces. The laces are very fine and soft, thanks to the high-quality cotton used for production. The laces are round and waxed, giving them a nice soft shine. The perfect laces for a pair of quality shoes. The laces are available in two different thicknesses: Fine/thin: +/- 1.5 mm wide and Medium: +/- 2 mm wide. The medium variant is mainly suitable for boots, but also for dress shoes (coarse derbies, etc). While the fine variety is better suited for elegant oxfords.
